Support: What’s covered?

Support in our Business and Enterprise packages focuses on content management and essential updates to ensure your site remains functional and secure. Here’s what’s included:

Content support changes:

    • Updates to text, images, or layout adjustments (e.g., how to update the menu, add a blog post, or reorder layouts).
    • Basic troubleshooting for website functions (e.g., how to fix broken links or missing elements).
    • Quick fixes that don’t require development work, like adjusting page layouts or making minor content edits.

WordPress updates:

    • Regular plugin updates (only for Enterprise).
    • WordPress core updates to keep your site secure and up-to-date.

Security & monitoring:

    • Real-time monitoring of site performance and security (e.g., malware scanning via Wordfence).
    • 24/7 uptime monitoring to ensure minimal disruptions.

With the Enterprise Package, you also get enhanced features like faster response times, daily backups, and a dedicated allowance for quicker updates. However, it’s important to note that support in these packages does not include developer work.

Support: What’s not covered?

While both the Business and Enterprise packages offer significant support, there are limitations, particularly when it comes to more complex tasks that fall under additional maintenance.

Support does not include:

  • Development work, such as adding new features or custom code.
  • Redesigning your website or implementing new design elements.
  • Large-scale content changes or creating entirely new sections or functionalities (e.g., adding eCommerce, integrating third-party tools, etc.).

These tasks require maintenance or custom development, which is billed separately.

What’s the difference between support and maintenance?

This is where confusion often arises. Here’s a clear breakdown of how support differs from maintenance:

Support (included in hosting packages)

  • Minor content updates (text, images, layout adjustments).
  • Troubleshooting non-development issues.
  • Regular WordPress updates (core, plugins, themes).

Essentially, support is about keeping your existing site running smoothly and making small content changes. It does not extend to development work or structural changes.

Maintenance (charged separately)

Maintenance involves any significant updates or changes that go beyond routine support, including:

  • Adding new website features (e.g., eCommerce functionality, booking systems).
  • Redesigning elements or sections of your website.
  • Custom development to build or adjust specific functions.
  • Structural changes that alter the layout or behaviour of your website.

Maintenance requires dedicated design and development time, which is billed separately from your hosting plan. Each website is treated independently, and nothing can be shared or joined across sites.

Common support and maintenance questions and their answers

  1. Does the Enterprise Package include 1 hour of support per site?

The Enterprise Package includes a higher level of support, such as faster response times and daily updates, but it does not automatically come with an additional hour of developer or advanced support time per site. If you need specific development work or design changes, this would fall under maintenance and be billed separately.

  1. Can support tasks be shared between multiple websites?

No. Each website is treated as an independent entity, and support or maintenance cannot be shared across multiple sites. Each website will require its own hosting package and any additional support or maintenance must be addressed on a per-site basis.

When should you opt for additional maintenance?

If your website requires major updates, such as adding new features or implementing a redesign, that’s where our maintenance services come in. Maintenance is handled on a bespoke basis, allowing you to add the functionality and customisations your business needs.

  • Need to integrate a new plugin or system?
  • Looking for a redesign or feature expansion?
  • Require advanced development to implement a new tool?

All of these tasks fall under maintenance, which is priced according to the complexity of your project. Our development and design teams will work with you to create custom solutions based on your business goals.

The clear boundaries between support & maintenance

At Stone Create, our hosting packages are designed to provide you with peace of mind—ensuring your website is fast, secure, and supported.

However, when it comes to more complex tasks like new feature development or site redesigns, additional maintenance services will be required.
